OUR STORY
Chronic Social Ventures (CSV) was born from a shared vision between two friends who saw an opportunity to harmonize the health of people and planet.
Pierce and Reece first met as students at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, bonding over their mutual passion for health and sustainability. Their paths took them into different sectors—Reece into renewable energy and medicine, and Pierce into sustainable agriculture and venture capital—but they remained connected by a core belief: the health of people and planet are inextricably linked.
As they advanced in their careers, they saw firsthand how chronic disease, food systems, and environmental sustainability were deeply intertwined. They also noticed a major gap—innovations with the greatest impact potential struggled to attract the right funding and support. Determined to change that, they launched Chronic Social Ventures, using their cross-industry expertise to connect philanthropy with transformative ventures that promote public health and environmental stewardship.
Today, CSV is a growing movement, driven by the support of visionary benefactors committed to a healthier future.
